Celebrate the end of ski season with Pond Skim in Stowe

This year is also the 1st Annual Spring Bash, which runs in conjunction with Pond Skim and offers two days of free live music! Whether you’re skimming, dancing to live bands, or just watching the spectacle unfold, Pond Skim at Stowe Mountain Resort is a must-attend late-season event.

And after the party winds down, Timberholm Inn is the perfect place to unwind and soak in the last moments of winter.

What is Pond Skim?

Pond Skim is exactly what it sounds like – skiers and snowboarders attempt to glide across a cold, slushy pond at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, all while dressed in outrageous costumes. Some make it across with style, while others take an inevitable (and hilarious) plunge into the icy water.

It’s one of the most highly anticipated events of the season, bringing together locals and visitors alike for laughs, live music, and end-of-season festivities. Pond Skim 2025 takes place Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th from noon-5 pm.

What to expect at Pond Skim 2025:

  • Incredible costumes – Expect to see everything from superheroes to inflatable dinosaurs attempting to skim across the pond. Hold onto your wigs!
  • Live entertainment & après-ski vibes – The base lodge area transforms into a spring party, with great food, drinks, and live music at the Toyota Music Den stage.
  • Pure fun & laughter – Even if you’re not participating, the energy and atmosphere make it worth attending. Make sure to stay for the Best Splash contest!
  • Affordable lodging right down the road – Timberholm offers clean, cozy amenities at a comfortable price point, just a few minutes drive from Stowe Mountain Resort.

The event is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 10 and up, and the day-of registration fills up fast, so if you want to take the plunge, arrive early!

Spring skiing in Stowe

Beyond Pond Skim, the final weeks of ski season in Stowe offer prime spring skiing. Skiing in spring has a totally different feel than skiing in January, namely because of softer snow and warmer temps. That means there’s no need for heavy layers – zip up your fleece and enjoy sunny days on the soft snow.

With peak season behind us, spring season also comes with fewer crowds, shorter lift lines, and a more relaxed feel on the slopes. When you’ve had your fill of skiing or snowboarding, this is the perfect season to enjoy your après-ski outside on the patio at one (or all!) of Stowe’s local breweries
