At Timberholm Inn, we’re all about giving you a genuine, comfortable Vermont experience. Our original fieldstone fireplace is a big part of that. It was built in 1949 and it’s been the heart of the inn since day one.
It’s a place where guests have gathered for decades to warm up, chat, and relax. Whether you’re here to warm up after a day on the slopes or just looking to unwind with a good book, there’s something special about sitting by the fire that makes you feel right at home.
Our fireplace isn’t just for show; it’s an original piece of Timberholm’s history. Stretching from the basement all the way up through the roof, it was built in 1949 with stones sourced from right here in Stowe. Ann Cram, the inn’s original owner, had the fireplace constructed along with the inn, and it remains one of our many charming original features.
Ms. Cram opened the inn when the sport of skiing was in its infancy. Timberholm was one of five original ski lodges in Stowe and is the only one still being used in its original capacity. The Stowe Historical Society recognizes Timberholm Inn as a historic location. We are, at our hearts, a ski lodge, which just so happens to be in one of the most beautiful places in the country to enjoy not only winter, but all four seasons.
Since 1949, the fieldstone fireplace has been the spot where skiers gathered to swap stories and shake off the chill. Today, it’s still that same gathering place. We’ve kept it just the way it was, a part of the historic character of Timberholm Inn that we’re proud to share with you.
Staying at Timberholm is about comfort and simplicity, with a touch of history. Our building has wide pine floors, original beams, and vintage doors that add to the inn’s charm. We’ve kept a lot of the original details because they make this place feel special. This is one of the last inns in Stowe that’s still serving guests in its original form, and we think that’s part of what makes us unique.

We’ve got you covered with a hearty meal to fuel your day, whether you’re off to explore Stowe or ski Mount Mansfield. And when you return, you’ll have a warm fire waiting.
